WHY CATAMARANS ARE BETTER?
The official definition of a catamaran is a type of mulithulled boat consisting of two hulls joined by frame structure. When choosing a boat for your next event, you might be wondering which type of boat is more appropriate and we thought this would help you.
The way we see it, there are multiple benefits of hiring a catamarans by opposition to a motor boat, and here are the main ones: They look good, are very stable, offer a lot more space inside and out than most motor boats and they often are a great option if you are on a budget!
Let us explain all this in little more details:
- Besides an attractive design, these yachts provide safe sailing. Catamarans are convenient for all who feel uncertain on board and are a bit afraid of sailing. Catamarans do not heel a lot and are pretty stable boats. This will certainly help in avoiding seasickness. Note that most charters on Sydney harbour will be run by motor only, making your experience even more comfortable.
- Catamarans are definitely most popular with young groups – 20 to 35 years old – and small families due to the look, comfort and space available. They often have indoor facilities comparable to a house, and have swimming ladders which allow easy climbing on board from the land and from the water. All equipped with good sound system inside and out, they are perfect party boats for Hens and Bucks parties for example.
- You can anchor in shallow bays or close to the shore due to a small draught of a catamaran. Also, they allow you to approach the coast very close and anchor in shallow waters, small coves and hidden places which is unlike for all conventional sailing yachts with a keel.
- Catamarans are also the most affordable options and a really good value. Prices for BYO charters start at about $60/pers only, making these type of boats accessible to most of us… and some of ours catamarans can take up to 80 guests!
Catamarans have undoubtedly become more popular in the last few years, and we have seen quite a lot of really nice boats entering the charter market. Saying that the choice is still fairly limited in Sydney, and customers tend to book earlier each year, so don’t wait too long if you want a nice boat on a Saturday this summer, as not all of you will find what they want!
